Talisker Scotch Single Malt 10 Year (750ml)

A heady mixture of dried seaweed, peat-smoking oven, and caramel candy show in this malt’s complex nose. The mineral and smoky components recede on the palate making way for a satisfying mix of bourbon barrel vanilla and creme brulees.Another that should need no introduction. The thing to look for in Talisker, as with all smoky whiskies, is sweetness that gives the requisite balance to the drying effect of smoke. Underneath Talisker’s smoke, which ain’t as all-pervading as Lagavulin, is a sweet pear-like quality. When young there are notes of the land: heather, moor, sweet seaweed, and a finish that has a distinctive cracked black pepper hit. Distinctive aroma serves notice immediately that this is a spirity, robust malt of consequence. Flavor profile supports the bouquet, adding traces of sea salt, tobacco, cooking oil, sage. Maritime malt magnificence in a glass. APPEARANCE Brilliant gold NOSE Powerful peat-smoke with just a hint of sea-water saltiness, fresh oysters, and a citrus sweetness. BODY Full. PALATE A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavours, warming and intense. Peppery at the back of the mouth. FINISH Huge, long, warming and peppery in the finish with an appetising sweetness.
