High West Bourbon Bourbon

High West is dedicated to preserving and promoting the American West. Their bourbon is a superb premium whiskey dedicated to one of the greatest land preservation projects of our time. The American Prairie Reserve in Montana is a 5000 Square mile land tract the size of Connecticut restored to what Lewis and Clark would have seen. High West will donate 10% of after tax profits from each bottle to the American Prairie Foundation.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A subtle, albeit pleasant, nose on the first pour. Opens up into a floraled butter corn, cotton candy, and fruit nose.

Taste: Candy sweetness is the first thing which explodes on your tongue. Super sweet, but it has a relatively dry mouthful throughout, meaning the sweetness does not overtake the senses in a more syrupy bourbon.

Finish: Short rye spice and pecan pie, never overwhelming.

High West Midwinter's Night Dram.

The folks at Utah's High West Distillery consider whiskey an indispensable part of making it through the long cold winter, and one taste of A Midwinter Night’s Dram alongside a cozy fire will surely transport you to a dreamlike state.

This limited release whiskey is a sumptuous marriage of the distillery's Rendezvous Rye finished in both port and French oak barrels. The rye forms a beautiful base of vanilla, caramel and cinnamon; the port barrels enhance with plums and dried fruits; the French oak provides a spice accent. In short, A Midwinter Night’s Dram tastes like a proper Christmas plum pudding with lovely mulling spices, dried fruits, and crème anglaise.
