For Chapter One, the story is told of how Cochrane Cartwright (Glengoyne distillery manager from 1869) arrived at the distillery and slowed the whole production process down even further to maximise sweet, fruity flavour and importantly, began maturing in sherry casks.
A heart of first-fill European oak oloroso sherry casks, combined with a portion of refill casks which allow the Glengoyne house style to shine through. Chapter One of The Legacy Series will be bottled un-chillfiltered at 48%. The whisky itself in Chapter One has a core of first fill European oak oloroso sherry casks combined with a strong proportion of refill casks which allow the sweet, fruity house style of Glengoyne to shine through.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Deep amber
Aroma: Full and rich, sticky toffee pudding with dates and vanilla custard, warm pear and cinnamon
Taste: Mouth coating and thick; layers of sweet, fruity sherry notes over gentle oak with sultanas and vanilla
Finish: Dried fruits and spice linger in a long, balanced finish
