GeorgeĀ Remus was a German-born lawyerĀ who was known as theĀ King of the Bootleggers. During the Prohibition, he defended many arrested bootleggers, but his best client turned out to be himself.Ā  Although trained as a pharmacist who became a lawyer, he found his success as a bootlegger as he found a loophole (or two) in the Volstead Act to craft Bourbon forĀ "medical purposes".
Ā
His legend continues with George Remus Bourbons which are produced inĀ Lawrencebourg, Indiana, just miles from where George ran his Prohibition empire. The BourbonsĀ capture the rebellious SpiritĀ and are intended for pleasure, not (only) medicinal purposes.
Ā
This expression is theĀ  Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon.Ā  With a proof of 115.9 it is not for the faint at heart. It is a big bourbon with a long finish. We suggest letting thisĀ bottle settle for a week or two after the first pour. After some air and time, it hits you in the face with great flavors and a gentle sweetness. The finish is spectacular and worth it.Ā  Ā Their is plenty of vanilla, dark cherry, and oak on the palate. This single barrel is a gem and should be enjoyed by all but only 100 of this barrel are left in existence. Get your before they are all gone.Ā

    Itā€™s ok

I found it a bit harsh for a supper. However, I do enjoy it in an old-fashioned.
